task 5: trans DISCIPLINARY thinking
Endangered australian animals: lINKING SCIENCE, MATHEMATICS & SOSE
The attached Lesson plan implements the use of trans disciplinary thinking through linking science, mathematics and SOSE curriculum outcomes to engage, explore, explain, elaborate, evaluate on the endangered animals that live in Australia. Although each of the 5E's are used throughout the activity, the lesson plan prominently focuses on the explore component of the 5E's tool as the activity is a research focused piece. I chose the endangered species topic for this task as students are often enthusiastic towards learning about the different kinds of animals that live in various and diverse environments. I believe this is interesting to students because animals are living creatures that are reliant on shelter, food and water just like we as humans are. Due to this fact that animals are a favourite topic amongst younger students, I believe that exploring the animals in danger can further enhance the care factor and the want to act upon their newly found knowledge and strive for positive change.
